Janet Pahlau is an extremely gifted and talented artist/graphic designer/marketer. She possesses a variety of skills and talents that she's able to use both separately and collectively to create and design marketing products, such as advertisements for a variety of media from newsprint to online, marketing collateral and various other marketing needs, including social media marketing.

I have worked side-by-side with Janet, both professionally - especially in the design of special sections and niche publications, such as the HBA's Best Homes publication - but also in a volunteer capacity as we worked again side-by-side to develop a marketing plan for the Poor Clares of Sancta Clara Monastery to promote/sell their homemade soups and breads. Janet also designed a beautiful program for the Sisters' benefit concert.

Besides Janet's obvious talent in graphic design/marketing - she is a joy to work with - dedicated and diligent - always greeting you with a positive attitude and a smile - and never an unkind word. Janet is the ideal employee - and she would be an asset to any company who has the opportunity to utilize her many talents.

I reported to Janet during my internship at The Educational Empowerment Group. She created websites for all schools in the organization, social media platforms, created all advertising and design material and more. Janet was a gem to work with! She was the Director of Marketing and taught me a variety of valuable skills. As a designer, she taught me useful tactics to better utilize Adobe products, like InDesign and Illustrator. Her patience and positive attitude made it a pleasure to come into work everyday. Thanks to her, my design and Marketing skills have improved immensely. I worked closely with Janet Pahlau for about five years, usually under tight deadlines. Whenever I had the option to choose a specific artist to work with, I asked for Janet. In addition to being a superb designer, she was the epitome of grace under pressure in our fast-paced environment.

Designing under pressure was no easy task. We seldom had much time for thinking. Janet delivered a beautiful product every time. One example was going into a project hoping the page count would be increased. When we were turned down due to the associated costs, I despaired of producing a visually appealing section. Janet pulled it off beautifully. We had nothing but good comments about it from advertisers, readers and colleagues at the newspaper.

On a more personal note, I especially appreciate Janet's pleasant disposition. By the time projects arrived at the design stage, deadlines loomed perilously close. Last-minute copy changes were par for the course. Photos came in right up until press time. Other times, photos that were promised never arrived and the design needed to be changed to accommodate that "hole." I've worked with enough artists to know that such frantic, last-minute activity can turn the nicest person into a snarling beast. That never happened when I worked with Janet. Her calm, professional demeanor helped me maintain mine. I highly recommend her for any position that interests her. She will exceed expectations every time.
